Co-CoA is a regional collaborative process on climate adaptation methodologies and indicators that currently involves 42 organizations from Latin America and the Caribbean with the potential to contribute to the implementation of the UAE Framework on Global Climate Resilience and its associated MEL system.
Argentina 1.5 and Fundación Avina are leading the collaborative regional process on climate adaptation methodologies and indicators.
Through this initiative we seek to strengthen the advocacy processes towards the implementation of the Global Goal on Adaptation and the operationalization of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Framework for Global Climate Resilience at COP29 and COP30 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
We also seek to develop a participatory process to identify and design methodologies and, potentially, indicators of adaptation to climate change, from the perspective of local stakeholders to support the current international discussion.
Communities and organizations, especially the grassroot organizations, find gaps and obstacles to their participation and influence in international negotiation processes due to a range of barriers including language, resources and the complexity of processes and agendas. Thus, we seek to make a contribution from the Global South, in particular with the Latin American and Caribbean stakeholders while strengthening the technical capacities of the participating organizations, specifically with regard to monitoring climate adaptation initiatives.
