Adaptation and GST2: a blog series with ARA

What needs to change to strengthen the assessment of adaptation in the second Global Stocktake (GST2)?

In preparation for the second Global Stocktaking (GST2), Fundación Argentina 1.5, together with The Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA), has been working to identify the main gaps left by GST1 in terms of adaptation and to contribute strategic messages from Latin America and the Caribbean.

Based on regional dialogues, analysis of climate negotiations and exchange with actors in the region, we identified challenges related to financing, data, governance, local implementation and recognition of the realities and efforts of developing countries.

This process is reflected in three blog posts that address different dimensions of the GST2 discussion:

Adaptation at a crossroads: LAC perspectives for addressing critical gaps and strategic messages ahead of GST2 presents the main gaps identified from GST1 and the strategic messages built from Latin America and the Caribbean.

What will it take to strengthen adaptation assessment in GST2? Lessons from regional dialogues and the Bonn climate negotiations.

Strengthening the adaptation assessment for GST2: insights from Latin America and the Caribbean explores the opportunities to strengthen regional contributions to GST2, focusing on adaptation, financing, data, governance and local implementation.

Taken together, these contributions seek to contribute to a more comprehensive, contextualized and territorially sensitive assessment of adaptation, allowing us to understand not only the progress achieved, but also the gaps that persist and the support needed to advance implementation.
