Climate Adaptation Workshop in Resistencia, Chaco

On September 30th, in Resistencia, Chaco, we held a workshop to present and test the Belém Adaptation Indicators on the ground, together with the Gran Chaco Foundation and with the support of the Avina Foundation, IIFA, and the Government of Chaco. The meeting brought together stakeholders from the public, productive, and technical sectors to share results and analyze how these global metrics can be applied to the realities and needs of the region.

The initiative is being developed in a context of high climate vulnerability. Over the last two decades, the Chaco region has accumulated losses exceeding USD 994 million due to climate emergencies, while extreme dry periods have surpassed 150 consecutive days without rainfall.

During the workshop, work was done on adaptation measures related to integrated forest and livestock management, sustainable pasture management, water harvesting, participatory early warnings, land regularization and REDD+.

The experience reaffirmed the need to incorporate data, knowledge, and capacities developed within local communities, as well as to guarantee the participation of women, youth, and Indigenous Peoples. The testing aims to ensure that international metrics are relevant to local realities and become useful tools for climate planning and action.

At Fundación Argentina 1.5 we continue working to connect climate information, public policies and territorial solutions.
